Community
Service Day
June
7, 2008
"Never
doubt that a small group of
thoughtful citizens can change
the world. Indeed, it is the
only thing that ever has."
- Margaret Mead
One of the best uses of one's
life is to give to others. And
we have much to give. This day
is for those who:
- want to be in action,
improving their community
- enjoy serving together,
with other men and their families
- want to support new men
as they step into leadership
Expect this to be one of NoM's
best days.
WHAT: Community Service Day
in the greater Silicon Valley
community. 3-hour projects
to include:
- work for a local school
- tree planting
- donating blood
- visiting a convalescent
home
- give back to Bramhall Park, where we meet each month
- sorting goods at a community
food supply
- supporting the mental
health community
- and more
WHO: Men of NoM, their significant
others and children, guests, and
any others with an interest in
service. We expect 150-200 people.
WHERE: Bramhall Park (map below)
until 8:30, then we go out into the Silicon
Valley community until noon, then
back to Bramhall at 12:45 for
lunch.
WHEN: Saturday, June 7,
8 am - 2 pm
HOW: Just show up Saturday
morning. We'll first have
a group photo together. Then
Project Leaders will describe
their service projects and
ask for participants (10-15/project)
to help them. All resources
and directions to projects will
be provided. After serving
side by side for 3 hours, we'll
all gather back at Bramhall Park
at 12:45 for lunch together.
We expect to be written up
in the local newspapers as a result
of our efforts. And also
want to see many new men at our
March meeting. Hope to see
you there.
